At Girls Allowed Gyms we like to keep our members on their toes and ensure that they're always striving to improve their fitness and be the best that they can be. We often run competitions and challenges for our members which are rewarded with prizes for the winner. Take a look at some of our latest competitions and discover more about our winners and how they rose to the challenge.

WEEKLY CHALLENGE (9th - 15th April)


This week's challenge is jumps per minute!

£1 for 1 minute

Or increase your chances with more tries for £2 for 3 minutes

The highest amount of jumps achieved in the minute will win.​

The winner of the jumps per minute challenge will receive a 45 minute PT session!

All money raised will go towards equipment for our brand new studio which you will all benefit from using very soon.

Ask the gym instructor on shift to record your minutes and we will announce the winner on Sunday 15th April.

Weekly challenge for Easter week: winner


Meet this week's weekly challenge winner - Chloe Kelly

Chloe's story...

I joined the gym in January 2017 with the intention of toning and generally improving my health. Just over a year later I am the strongest and fittest I have ever been and the key to this has been variation. Laila helped to develop a programme which I follow once per week and I also attend a lot of classes. Legs, Bums and Tums starts off my week, Pop Pilates is loads of fun and great for strengthening, Yoga again great for strengthening and calming, Metafit/Box Fit pushes me to my limits and I also dabble in spin if I feel I need to blow off a bit more steam. This might sound a lot to fit around work and young children but the classes and opening times are so convenient and this will only improve with the addition of the new studio. Laila, all the instructors and the lovely members make staying motivated very easy and I feel very fortunate to have the gym so close to my home

This week's gym challenge is to hashtag (#) your workout

Enter this week's challenges by:

1) Taking a photo of all of your workouts at the Girls Allowed Gym (pre, mid or post-workout)

2) Post the photo on Instagram or Facebook (or better still... both) with the hashtag #girlsallowedgyms (with some other fitness related hashtags)

3) Check in on Facebook every time you come to the Girls Allowed Gym and don't forget to include the #girlsallowedgyms hasHtag (otherwise we will not be able to enter your post into the competition.

4) Upload a video for extra points

Each photo or video upload, Facebook check-in or new follower of Girls Allowed Gyms initiated from your post earns you competition points. The member with the most points accumulated at the end of the week (Easter Sunday) will receive a prize!

We will be checking the #girlsallowedgyms hashtag every evening and we will announce the winner on Sunday.

Gym miles winners


Jane Drew

​Jane Drew was our first gym miles winner in March. Jane is aged 42, has been a Girls Allowed gym member for 18 months. Jane enjoys lifting  weights and running outdoors. Jane has dropped from a size 12 to a size 10 and has managed to stay there. Jane's next goal is size 8!

Olivia Smith

Olivia Smith was another of our gym miles winners in March. Olivia is 18 years of age, has been attending the Girls Allowed Gym since October 2017. Olivia enjoys cooking and socialising with friends. Olivia dislikes the winter and cold weather and can't wait for summer!

Olivia says "my personal trainer was really good (Sara). I usually stop the minute I feel tired but Sara pushed me to keep going".

This week's gym challenge is minutes to miles...

Congratulations to Olivia Smith - last week’s competition winner!

Every minute spent working out (not chatting) = 1 gym mile, for instance:

  • 45 minutes in a class = 45 gym miles​
  • 30 minutes on the treadmill = 30 gym miles

The person with the most miles accumulated at the end of the week will be the winner and will receive a prize!

Ask the gym instructor on shift to record your miles and we will announce the winner on Sunday.

Member of the month: June winner


Meet our member of the month for June - Andrea Veares

Andrea Veares was June's winner of the month for the "most determined member". All of us instructors at Girls Allowed Gym have all noticed and admired Andrea's sheer dedication. Andrea always puts 100% effort into everything she does in the gym and in our classes.

Andrea really deserves this award and her prizes, she is a lovely lady who shows great commitment and determination always. She is looking absolutely fantastic!

Andrea's story...

I joined the Girls Allowed Gym in January. I love the Meta Fit and Box Fit classes. I joined the gym as I struggle to lose weight by dieting due to being a very fussy eater! Since joining the gym I have lost over 2 stone and my body shape has changed. I've never really been a gym person but the gym is so welcoming and everyone is so friendly that I don't feel self conscious. The instructors are all lovely and give help and motivation.


Member of the month: May winner


Meet our member of the month for May - Ashley Dalton

Since Ashley joined Girls Allowed Gym in February she has shred almost 2 stone​ - in just 3 months! Ashley's fitness levels have gone through the roof and her body shape has completely changed. This girl has impressed all of the instructors at Girls Allowed Gym and has received some great prizes including one month's free membership.

Im not a selfie person and I only really take pics of the kids, but these are my before and after pics after 4 months of being a member at Girls allowed gym. I've been voted "member of the month" and for someone who loves cake more than gym I'm so happy with myself and the progress.... and not to mention all of the great things I've won!
